1.3.1 Lecture 3: Policy Options in Shaping the Future Part I

Course subject(s) Module 1. Policy Ambitions

So far we have looked at the rationale behind switching to electric vehicles driving on renewable energy. But what has to happen to make this a reality? In this series of three lectures prof. Margot Weijnen will explain the physical, social and institutional dimensions that have to be built to make this future come true. In this lecture we will start with the physical dimension.

Learning goals for this lecture are:

      1. Learn which three dimensions are important in building a new system
      2. Get an idea of the physical components that are needed for an EV future
      3. Understand the concept of residual load
      4. List the solutions to deal with the residual load problem
      5. Describe the (dis-)advantages of each of these solutions
