Question 3: Sludge volume reduction

The daily waste sludge production is 750 m3/day. Waste sludge containing 1% SS of which 70% organic matter is treated by the following process:

  1. thickened to 50 gSS/L by gravity
  2. digested: 50% of organic matter is degraded to biogas
  3. digested sludge is dewatered to 25% SS (no chemicals needed)

How many trucks with a capacity of 30 tons are needed per week to transport the dewatered sludge to the central incineration plant?
