Pre 2.1 Introduction
Course subject(s)
Pre-knowledge Mathematics
This section gives a review of the basic elements of linear algebra and matrix theory. It is designed as a convenient source of reference to be used for the EdX course “Observation Theory: Estimating the unknown”.
In the following units, you will find information about five main topics:
- Vectors and Matrices
- Linear Combinations, Rank and Inverse
- Vector Spaces and Subspaces
- Euclidian Spaces, Norm, and Orthogonality
- Matrices and Linear Systems of Equations
You are expected to be familiar with topic 1 before Module 1.2 on Quality and Types of Errors; the other topics become relevant from Module 2 on Mathematical Models.
