In this tutorial post-doc researcher Abdoulaye Diakité explains how convention in map making is shifting from 2d to 3d. He points at the many new possibilities this transition will offer, both in visualization and in analysis. His message is that we are standing at the beginning of this new era. Many of the future possibilities of map-making we can only hint at now.
