8.4.1 Reconfiguring and Maintaining the Urban Water System
Course subject(s)
Module 8 – Urban Water: Dry Feet for Citizens
Co-designing Prototypes for Really Cooling Waterbodies: REALCOOL
Now that you have seen several examples of citizen science, where citizens perform measurements and generate data, let’s have a look at some other co-creation examples where citizens have a rather different role. How can citizens, among other stakeholders, be involved in designing, reconfiguring and maintaining the urban water system?
Let’s first start with an example related to one of the emerging climate-change-driven water management challenges: adapting the urban water system to ensure effective cooling during heat stress. João Cortesão will share his experiences from the REALCOOL project to illustrate what a co-creative design process can look like.
