Course subject(s) Module 5: Production and End of Life

Lecture 5E: End-of-life

It the previous lecture it was explained that lighter carbon fibre materials as compared to aluminium require more energy to produce. However, this is offset during the operation phase of the aircraft service life by the weight savings of these materials.

With the concept of a circular aircraft life cycle in mind, it would be beneficial to use as many components and materials of an aircraft again. But, what are the options for reuse and recycling after the end of an aircraft’s life? These will be explained by Irene Fernandes-Villegas in this lecture.
