5.3.3 An introduction to the center of mass

Course subject(s) Module 5. Balance in Exoskeletons

After learning the anatomical properties of balance, it’s now time to learn more about the physical properties! Where the previous videos explored in-depth how the balance organ within one’s ear is built-up and how it works, this video introduces the concept that is important for this balance organ to take into account: the Center of Mass (CoM). The Center of Mass is an important physical concept that is useful for all kinds of calculations regarding balance and somehow nature has evolved to sense and adjust this concept, too!

Make sure you write down the formula that will be given in the video, you may need it later on!
