In this final video of module 1, we will discuss the basic solar cell design. We will look at the individual layers of a solar cell, and discuss the role they play in a photovoltaic device. Furthermore, we will introduce the overview of all the loss mechanisms that occur in solar cells, which we will use throughout this course. Finally, we will use this overview to derive the solar cell design rules.
