1.4.1 What are resources and reserves?

Course subject(s) Module 1. Introduction

It is now time to turn our attention to a topic that often comes up first in the debate on critical raw materials: geological scarcity. We have asked Eimear Deady, an economic geologist at the British Geological Survey, to explain us the limits of the Earth’s resources and whether these could pose a problem to development. She will determine whether geological scarcity is a key challenge to accessing CRM resources. What do you think?

First, let’s understand the basics: Eimear explains what defines resources and reserves are, and clarifies the differences between these two terms.
