1.4 Radiation Protection Dosimetry

Course subject(s) 1. Fundamentals of Nuclear Science

In the previous video, Dr. Jan Heyse discussed about the interaction of radiation emitted due to radioactive decay with a matter. In this video, Anne Laure Lebacq will introduce you to the effect of radiation on the human body and the basic principles of radiation protection dosimetry. More specifically, she will talk about :

  1.  Why we need dosimetry
  2.  How to measure the radiation dose
  3.  How to express the radiation dose

Keywords: absorbed dose, effective dose, deterministic, stochastic, tissue weighing factor, radiation weighing factor
