1. Introduction to Flight Mechanics
Welcome to the last topic of this course: Flight Mechanics! Dr. Voskuijl, your lecturer for this module, will start with an introduction about flight mechanics.
In this lecture Dr. Voskuijl will derive the equations of motion, which we use for flight mechanics problems.
This clip is quite long, so feel free to pause halfway and continue later.
In this lecture we will take a look at how we use aerodynamics when dealing with flight mechanics related problems.
In this clip we will take a look at another force: the propulsion force.
In order to make the equations of motion simpler, we will make a simplified representation of the propulsion system.
Now that there is an expression for all the forces as a function of airspeed, Dr. Voskuijl will introduce a handy tool: the performance diagram.
