Here you will find the video’s used during the lectures.

WaveCore

Wave Core: Scale model on stability tests of secondary armour under a single layer of Tetrapods. The core of the breakwater is scaled correcly (resulting in a larger model core D50 than the model filter D50). In this video the penetration of the waves into the core can be observed clearly.
Video by Wesley de Jong, 2003, made in Fluid Mechanics Lab (graduation work).

Sturmflut

Sturmflut: Wave overtopping and failure of a German sea dike 22/12/1954.

Armour

Armour: video presentation of the use of high-density concrete for armour units.

Roof of the Elbe-tunnel

Short explanation of the protection of the roof of the Elbe-tunnel in Hamburg, Germany (38 seconds).

Fitting Rock

Fitting rock into a breakwater (17 seconds)

Fitting stones into a breakwater

Overview of fitting stones into a breakwater, using an orange peel grab (34 seconds).

Monitoring

Cranes use a positioning monitor to keep track of the exact position of a single stone (34 seconds).

Rock placing

video and animation of rock placing (61 seconds).

Rock loading and dumping

Loading and dumping rock from a Side Stone Dumper ( 69 seconds).

Wave attack

Wave attack on Xbloc slope (11 sec)

Wave attack large

Three dimensional view of the Xbloc

Dropping a Xbloc

Dropping a full scale Xbloc on a stiff, concrete slab (5 sec)

Rocking test

rocking tests with an X-bloc

Golfbrekers met een enkele laag van kubussen
