In this lecture clip, we introduce the first of the 4 A’s: Access. Within this section, some of the concepts introduced in the video clip below about accessibility will be defined.
In this course we use the following definition of energy access:
Energy Access is defined by the International Energy Agency as: “a household having reliable and affordable access to both clean cooking facilities and to electricity, which is enough to supply a basic bundle of energy services initially, and then an increasing level of electricity overtime to reach the regional average“. This means that the state of Energy Access within a region is dynamic because it alters when the regional average changes.
