In the lecture you were introduced to the capacitor. Capacitors are often used in conjuction with a resistor for different applications, such as filtering, charging or switching from alternating current to direct current. In this exercise we will analyse a RC-circuit and look at its behaviour when it is turned on. The circuit representation is shown below in the figure and we can see that a resistor and a capacitor are connected to a voltage source via a switch.
