QUESTION 4 Dimensioning and evaluation of primary sedimentation tanks

A Wastewater treatment Plant (WWTP) has an average flow (Qavg) of 40,000 m3/d and a peak flow (Qmax) of 100,000 m3/d.

  • Design circular primary sedimentation tank(s) (diameter, retention time).
  • Calculate scour velocity at 1 m from centre.
  • Calculate weir loading.
  • Estimate BOD and TSS removal.
