3.1 Flow around objects: exercise 1 (example)

Imagine a flat plate (length L and thickness D, L >> D) which is placed in a fluid that flows with velocity v. In these exercises, we are going to examine the two components of the drag force FD. We know that the drag force consists of the form drag force and the friction drag force:

FD = form drag + friction drag                 (units: Newton)

In each of the following situations, try to choose whether the form drag increases, decreases or is not influenced.
