3.2.1 Two main types of business models for repair

Course subject(s) Module 3: Repair

To keep a product in use as long as possible, the need for repair will occur from time to time.

In this video Max Prumbohm presents the two main principles and business models behind Design for Repair and relate them to the idea of the circular economy. More details are in this video and the ones that follow.

  • There are two main ways repair takes place:
    • by a company (producer or third party)
    • by the customers

    Drivers for companies are:

    • very difficult and complex
    • safety critical
    • warranties

Problem: one-way products which are not made for repair, end up as waste.
