3.2.8 Bike Sharing

Course subject(s) Module 3: Repair

In this edition of our weekly “OV Fiets” bike-sharing case-study David Peck and Alessio Franconi discuss the design characteristics of the OV bike that make it particularly fit for repair.

  • Number of parts: The OV fiets is designed to have fewer parts than common bikes: for example only one brake by backpedaling, or a dynamo inserted into the wheel hub, without a switch.
  • The wearable parts are standard parts which are easy to procure and to change out/replace.
