3.3.3 The Growth of Renewables in the Packaging Industry

Course subject(s) Module 3. Renewables in packaging

Previously, Christiaan Bolck gave his vision on the future of renewables in packaging industry. In this last video Patrick Gerritsen will talk about the role of his company in the transition towards the use of renewable materials and his vision for the future of the packaging industry.

MAIN TAKEAWAYS

  • Some disadvantages of renewable and biodegradable plastics are the result of novelty. For instance, the price of the packaging will go down with an increasing market share.
  • With Bio4Pack’s packaging there is not one answer for all packaging needs, each product requires different material properties which need to be assessed to find the right match.
  • Patrick recognizes a customer demand for sustainable packaging and is sure that this will eventually lead to a growth in the market share for renewable and compostable packaging.
