This fourth module of “Basics of Transport Phenomena” is all about the first steps into heat and mass transfer. You will be able to explain the analogy between heat, mass and electrical resistance, and illustrate the analogy between Fourier and Fick. We will also teach you how to derive the temperature distribution in a rod using an energy balance and Fourier’s law, and derive the concentration distribution in a membrane using a mass balance and Fick’s law. In the end, this will all be useful for solving simple and real life problems.

You can find this module’s formulas in the  formula sheet.
