4.12.1 Images and sound: lecture

Course subject(s) Module 4. Processing

Although GUI programs, such as GIMPInkscape, and Audacity, are our best friends for processing images and sound, sometimes command line tools have an edge, especially when we want to automate batch operations. In this video we learn how to process images with the NetPBM suite of programs and sound with the sox tool.  Although we’ll not see this here, keep in mind that you can also perform formidable video editing operations using the ffmpeg tool. (The videos you’re watching are created through multiple ffmpeg invocations, together with sox and code written in Python and Processing.org.)
