Module 4. Managing Smart Sustainable Cities
This section will discuss Project Management (PM) in Smart Sustainable Cities for Public Administration. We will review the fundamentals of project management, the main environmental factors for Smart City projects, and their project life cycle.
First, let’s describe some important definitions:
Project: Temporary effort necessary to create a unique product, service, or result.
Programs: Group of related projects, subsidiary programs, and program activities managed in a coordinated way to obtain benefits that are unavailable when administered individually.
Portfolio: Collection of projects, programs, subsidiary portfolios, and operations, managed together to achieve strategic objectives.
The Environmental factors must be considered in SSC Project since some conditions are not under the control of the Project team, and it can influence the Project. Thus, several questions may be considered:
- What are the main environmental factors in SSC Project?
- What approach(es) should be considered in each phase of the project life cycle?
