Technology comes and goes in generations. The most famous example are the different generations of the mobile networks. But also the networks in the energy systems have different generations. This lecture will discuss the heating and cooling grids and explain what the different generations of these grids are. The future generations will also be introduced, and the biggest challenges are discussed.
