In this fifth module of “Basics of Transport Phenomena”, we deal with Newton’s law of cooling. You will learn how to understand the concept of a heat transfer coefficient and the difference between conduction, convection, radiation and illustrate this analogy in a meaningful way. You will also be able to calculate the value of a heat transfer coefficient using Nusselt correlations and calculate the value of the mass transfer coefficient using a Sherwood number.

You can find the formulas for this week in the formula sheet .
