5.2.1 Source rock: generation and preservation

Course subject(s) 5. Hydrocarbon geology

In this block of module 5, the participants will learn the basics of petroleum systems. He/she will be able to define the characteristics of a good source rock, to identify rocks with high and low permeabilities, and identify the most important types of stratigraphic and structural traps.

The videos of this block will bring you through the main elements of the petroleum system. Indeed a heavy but very important block. You learn the not-obvious process by which good source rocks are formed.
