This lecture is about risk and safety, words that are very commonly used. But what are they exactly and how can they be useful?

In this first video Frank Guldenmund will start with some definitions considering the questions what is risk and what is safety. After that he will discuss risk analysis, explaining different methods with which risk can be analyzed.

In the second video the risk analysis model is continued. Then safety measures will be discussed.

In this last video Behnam Taebi will reflect on risk analisys with two topics. The first is the evolution of safety in nuclear reactor design. The second part is an elaboration on the topic of the acceptability of risk.
