Course subject(s) Module 7 – Urban Food&Green: The Use of Urban Spaces

Urban Food Policy and Citizen Involvement

Food provision is a challenging topic for cities around the world. In this video, prof. Peter Oosterveer will explain why this is the case and how cities address food-related challenges in policies and practice. He will show that, around the world, urban food systems are changing, which often ends up alienating citizens from food production and agriculture. In many cities, co-creation initiatives have been started to bring food and agriculture closer to the day to day lives of the urban populations. But, as Peter Oosterveer will show, citizens can co-create the urban food-system in many different ways.
