Introduction

The course is about protection of the boundary between land and water. The learning objectives are

  • learn to design a structure for the protection against undesired erosion
  • design structures based on understanding of the processes

The lecturer, ir. H.J. Verhagen, explains whether a boundary between land and water should be protected. Several examples of protections are given and many different topics about the design process, flows, moving objects, cause and effect, mechanisms, load and strength etc. are briefly discussed.
