Course subject(s) D03b – Filtration

In this lecture, prof. Van Dijk explains the principles of (media) filtration, a process found in nearly all drinking water production plants.
The theoretical backgrounds are presented both for filtration as well as for backwashing.
In the last part some special forms of media filtration are discussed, i.e. slow sand filtration, (biological) dry filtration, and pressure filtration.
