D04b – Removal of pharmaceuticals from surface water

Course subject(s) D04b – Removal of pharmaceuticals from surface water

In this lecture, PhD graduate Arne Verliefde talks about a relative new problem for the production of drinking water from surface water: pharmaceuticals.
He explains how these products are migrated into surface water, and their potential threats at concentrations found in surface water. Thereafter he discusses the removal of these products by advanced oxydation, adsorption on activated carbon, biological processes and membrane filtration.
In the last part of his lecture he foccusses on the removal of these products by membrane filtration.
