Course subject(s) Environment

13. Environment

In lecture 13 the relation between shore protection and environment is discussed. For a healthy environment the connection between land and water is important. Building shore protection can cause a separation between land and water which in turn can have serious effects on the local environment. The environment entails that shorelines have to be multifunctional in the landscape. Therefore one should think about the use of vegetation, use of sustainable materials and providing migration possibilities from land to water and vice versa.
