Course subject(s) 4. Unraveling Complexity

Below is a video that Ian Chaplin used for a presentation for his Master of Science studies. He graduated as an architect in the spring of 2016 and used this video to explain his design for an experimental project in the city of Rotterdam.

While you watch the video, try to notice tricks that Ian uses to tell his complex story and to illustrate it in a clear way.

Did you notice the way the story was told in steps from small to large? Starting with the human scale. Did you see the use of colors in the video to distinguish different elements? Did you notice how the ‘levels of detail’ gradually changed during the video?
