Course subject(s) 4. Modelling of irrigation systems I

4. Modelling of irrigation systems I

Lecturer: dr.ir. M.W. Ertsen
This lecture deals with the possibilities of modelling irrigation systems, in this context three different items will be discussed:

  • An example of the reconstruction of a pre-Colombian irrigation system in Peru. How can such a system being modelled, which information can be used and do the results fit with reality?
  • The implementation of structures in a (Sobek) model. How can you schematize structures, so they can be used in a (Sobek) model.
  • Basic steps for setting up the Sobek model for the design exercise. How do you determine the configuration that you are going to use in your model and how can you use the model to test and improve your system.
