In the first hour the research cycle and types of research are described. Criteria for good research questions are presented. Purpose of enquiry for descriptive, exploratory, correlational, and explanatory research is given.
The second hour is on developing the research question. Examples of different types of research questions are given. Conceptual models are discussed: independent and dependent variables, intervening variable, extraneous variable. Finally some flexible design research strategies are discussed (case study, ethnographic study, and grounded theory study).
