Solar Thermal Energy- Part 1

Course subject(s) Module 8. Comparing & Combining Technologies

In this section we’ll look at some ways to convert solar energy into other forms of usable energy. Solar thermal technologies convert sunlight into thermal energy. This thermal energy can be used in domestic applications or it can be used to generate electricity. Alternatively, solar energy can be used to produce chemical fuels, that are easily stored. Both these technologies can be used in a hybrid configuration in combination with PV. The waste heat from PV modules can for instance be used in a PV-solar thermal hybrid configuration. In this video you will learn about the basics of solar thermal energy conversion.

The videos in this section are a bonus to the regular content and will not appear in the exams. The videos are from the Solar Energy MOOC, so the numbering of the videos is not correct.
