2. Structural Engineering
In this lecture Prof. J. Sinke talks about structures in aircraft. First the main functions of structures are discussed and examples of structures from the past. Next the working principles of trusses are discussed, with a discussion of fail safe and safe life structure. The next step is to go from trusses to beams, by building a truss from multiple truss cells. From the knowledge obtained from beams, shell structures are discusses which completes the set of structures that an aircraft comprises of. Finally load cases such as wing loading factors and fatigue are discussed.
