W03b – Trickling filters
In this lecture, prof. Van Lier discusses the biological treatment of wastewater in trickling filters.
In his introduction he explains the basic setup of trickling filters. Then the different elements of these filters are presented such as filter material, water distribution and underdrains. Afterwards the biological processes in these filters are discussed as well as the proces design aspects. In the last part of the lecture the position of trickling filters within a treatment plant setup is presented.
