W06 – Anaerobic treatment

Course subject(s) W06 – Anaerobic treatment

In this lecture, prof. Van Lier presents the development and backgrounds of anaerobic wastewater treatment for industrial and domestic wastewater.
In the introduction of the lecture the anaerobic conversion of organic matter is explained, and how this was used in de development of an Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Bed (UASB) reactor. Thereafter different applications are shown for treatment of industrial wastewater. In the second part of the lecture several applications for domestic wastewater are presented.
