3e – Design, SUDS
- Lecture on an innovative approach on urban drainage systems. After developing a basic approach to design a traditional urban drainage system, it can be taken one step further. The current system has some drawbacks which could be improved. Surplus of runoff discharge (sewer overflow) and lack of local infiltration (limited groundwater recharge) are examples which could be avoided with a wide scale of techniques often called best management practices (BMP), low impact development (LID) or sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS).
