This lecture gives an introduction into the course and deals with an example of an irrigation system: the Kano River Project in Nigeria. Focus points are what does such a system look like and what does the systems consists of. The last part of the lecture is a movie about the different perceptions of original farmers and new (immigrated) farmers in Spain.
