Course subject(s) Module 1: Getting started: Global Housing Design

At the end of this course participants will be able to:

  1. IDENTIFY social practices and spatial configurations that determine the qualities of existing dwelling communities.
  2. UNDERSTAND how incrementality, typology mix and clustering can become key design approaches to enhance the living conditions of urban communities.
  3. RECOGNIZE design approaches that can contribute to the development of adequate housing neighbourhoods.
  4. COMPAREthe characteristics of housing schemes designed in different contexts taking account of specific social, political and geographical factors.
  5. EVALUATE the performance of dwelling communities taking into consideration the relation between social, economic and environmental factors.
  6. FORMULATE a design hypothesis and managerial strategy to develop an inclusive dwelling community based on incrementality, typology mix and clustering.
