Introduction to 1.1

Course subject(s) Module 1. Introduction & Crystalline Silicon I

We start this course with a short introduction. Before diving into the processing and design of crystalline silicon solar cells, you will first get an idea of the different technologies available. What materials are used for these technologies and how well do they perform?

We will also introduce the design of a conventional solar cell and explain the loss mechanisms that occur in all type of solar cells. This is of the utmost importance for understanding the design considerations of each of the pv technologies discussed later in this course.

Go ahead, dive right in and enjoy PV2x Photovoltaic Technologies!
