1.2.1 Introduction to Force and motion
Module 1: Mechanics
From the moment the first apple fell onto Isaac Newton’s head the study of ‘forces and motion’ has been one of the most fundamental topics in physics. There is virtually no branch of physics where forces do not play a role, and with force comes motion. When you try to imagine what a force looks like, you might think of something or someone pushing or pulling an object by making contact. But what about gravity, magnetic forces or the forces that keep atoms together? It seems like the forces of the universe are just as ubiquitous and mysterious as ‘The Force’ of Star Wars…
