1.2.4 Circular Strategies for Packaging

Course subject(s) Module 1. Packaging in a Circular Economy

In the last video Siem Haffmans mentioned the four circular strategies for packaging that we will discuss in this course. Each strategy will be discussed in further detail in a dedicated episode and we will touch upon all of them in this episode’s case study.

Recycle: converting waste packaging into materials for new packaging items.

Reuse: collecting, cleaning and reusing packaging items for the same purpose.

Renew: using renewable and/or biodegradable materials in packaging.

Rethink: reimagining the design or application of the packaging (or product) in order to maximise positive (and minimise negative) environmental and societal impacts.
