1.2.4 Circular Strategies for Packaging

Course subject(s) Module 1. Packaging in a Circular Economy

In the last┬ávideo Siem Haffmans mentioned the four circular strategies for packaging that we will discuss in this course. Each strategy will be discussed in further detail in a dedicated episode and we will touch upon all of them in this episode’s case study.

Recycle: converting waste packaging into materials for new packaging items.

Reuse: collecting, cleaning and reusing packaging items for the same purpose.

Renew: using renewable and/or biodegradable materials in packaging.

Rethink: reimagining the design or application of the packaging (or product) in order to maximise positive (and minimise negative) environmental and societal impacts.
