1.2.1 Fourier and Fick’s law in different geometries

Course subject(s) 1. Microbalances in Transport Phenomena

In chapter 2 of this week, we will continue with the microbalances in transport phenomena. We will expand the microbalance by continuing with Fourier’s law and Fick’s law (introduced in MOOC Transport Phenomena) in different geometries. Diffusion of heat and mass happens in a lot of systems, so understanding how this works is key.

In the exercises you are going to set up and solve an energy balance and a mass balance over a small part of a cylindrical and spherical shell. How this is done will be explained in the theory.
