2.0.1 Introduction to The power of entanglement

Course subject(s) 02. The power of entanglement

This module is an exciting module. We’re going to have lots of fun learning about entanglement, that very same feature of quantum mechanics which famously puzzled Einstein, Podolsky and Rosen in the 1930s (“EPR paradox” anyone?). We’ll see what entanglement is, how it can be manipulated, and how it can be used for cryptography!

We’ll show you how entanglement can form the basis for a secret-sharing scheme. In the last video lectures, we’ll give you hints as to the power of entanglement, and the ways in which we’ll use it later to establish the security of quantum key distribution. This is the property of entanglement monogamy, which we’ll touch upon by discussing quantum multiplayer games.
