2.0.2 Introduction to Design for Recycling at the Product Level

Course subject(s) Module 2 Design for Recycling at the Product Level

In this module, we will explore Design for Recycling (DfR) of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) on a product level. We explore the current recycling process and the design guidelines to improve the recyclability of products.

Learning goals

After completing module 2, you will be able to make design choices that will improve the yield (amount recycled) and quality (purity) of the recycling of a product.

  • You will be able to explain the main steps in the recycling process of Electrical and Electronic Equipment
  • You will understand the current bottlenecks for recycling throughout the recycling process.
  • You will be able to explain the impact of Design for Recycling guidelines on the recycling process at a product level.
  • You will be able to justify design trade-offs concerning product architecture to benefit the product’s circularity.
