We hope that you understand how microbalances are set up and solved, as discussed in the first week. In this second week, we will discuss another type of balance: the momentum balance.

In the theory, you will be taught how to use the mass balance and energy balance to set up and solve the momentum balance and how this balance can be used.

When this subsection is completed, you will be able to explain what momentum is, recognize the boundaries in a system for the momentum balance, integrate the mass and energy balance in the momentum balance and calculate pressure drops and forces used on systems.
