In this section, you will learn about Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their relation to Smart Sustainable Cities.

The urban population grows fast, generating significant social, environmental, and economic impacts. Climate change, social inequality, and shortage of natural resources are some of the challenges of the urban future. Consequently, it has raised sustainability debate and the necessity of resilience in long-term management.

Thus, the United Nations defined 17 sustainable development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent need for action in a global partnership by all countries. They understand that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development.
