- Start with a well formulated research questions identifying your variables and their relationships
- Identify key databases dependent on your domain and where you found highlighted landmark publications
- In the queries, use a variation of combinations of synonyms and different logic combinations. Also screen how many hits you get and look at developments of metadata
- Build a classification system from the beginning, you can either work with a pre-made schema in later steps or also develop the schema iteratively, if you want to come to more valid results you need to work with inter-rater reliability measures.
- Report your results from simple to more complex !
- Follow a scheme like PRISMA.
